Itinerary

Day 1. Shimla-Janglik (2804 meters/180 km/10 hours):

We will assemble at Shimla and board the vehicle at 6.00 am for Janglik. The serpentine road will pass beside temples, beautiful colorful homes, and fields of the people along the Pabbar River. Up to Chirgaon, the road is metaled after that it deteriorates. We will reach Tonglu and from there we will trek for 500 meters for Janglik. Dinner and overnight stay will be in Janglik’s homestay.

Day 2. Janglik-Dayara (3376 meters/7.5 km/ 5 hours):

On this day after breakfast, we will proceed for Dayara Thatch. The trail passes through dense forests, meadows, and numerous streams coming down from the high mountains. The trek is a mix of ascent and descent apart from a decent flat walk. We will reach Dayara Thatch in five hours. To acclimatize short treks to nearby points is advisable. Overnight stay will be at Dayara campsite. Water bottles can be refilled from streams.

Day 3. Dayara-Litham(3577 meters/5.9 km/ 3 hours):

On this day ascending and descending trail passes through high and low meadows, dense Birch forest which indicates the last tree line on any trek, and stream crossing takes place on this day. The Dhauladhar mountain ranges with snowcapped peaks make this day trail extra attractive. It will take three hours to reach Litham. Overnight stay will be at Litham campsite.

Day 4. Litham-Chandra Nahan Lake-Litham (4235 meters/6.9 km/ 7 hours):

On this day excursion to Chandra Nahan Lake takes place for the sake of acclimatization. We will start early and return back by 2.00 pm, as the weather conditions deteriorate due to its high altitude. It is a steep ascent to Chandra Nahan Lake and steep descent for return to Litham. On this day the fitness and endurance levels of the participants will be tested. The tips of very well-qualified and experienced Adventure Delight’s trek leaders will come in handy for crossing the frozen glaciers and snow wall on the way. All the participants are advised to wear micro spikes and use a trekking pole for this stretch. The size of Chandra Nahan Lake shrinks due to freezing. The snowfield surrounds Chandra Nahan Lake. The glacial water feeds this lake. We will also visit the snout of this lake, which is also considered the origin of the Pabbar River. Snow-clad mountains on one side, a huge waterfall on the other make this campsite memorable.

Day 5. Litham-Dunda (4074 meters/4.5 km/ 5 hours):

On this day the trail is a first gradual ascent and then a steep ascent to Dunda and entails many glacier crossings, especially in the summer season. It will take around five hours to reach Dunda.

Day 6. Dunda- Buran Pass-Riverside Campsite (3597 meters/8.5 km/ 9 hours):

On this day the target is to cross Buran Pass (15000 feet) at sunrise which requires leaving the campsite as early as possible. Due to the heat of the Sun, the snow melts making traversing the glaciers more difficult due to this fact it is advised to start the trek as early as possible. The trek envisages climbing a steep snow wall to Buran Pass and then steep descent to the other side followed by a series of snow slides until the snowline ends and gradual descent begins. It takes around nine hours to reach Riverside Campsite in Kinnaur Valley for our night halt.

Day 7. Riverside Campsite-Barua Village (2042 meters/7.6 km/ 5 hours):

This day trail is quite an easy descent to Barua Village with beautiful wooden houses. It will take around five hours to reach the road head from where we board the transport for Shimla. We will reach Shimla by 10 pm and the trip will conclude.
